Trombonist Adam Theis’ Cosa Nostra Strings is a branch of the Bay Area’s illustrious “Jazz Mafia.” Cosa Nostra Strings specializes in original hybrid crossover music ranging from acoustic heavy metal to power ballads, and everything in-between. The group performs compositions and arrangements written by its five members. They will be performing two world premieres; one written for the group by cellist Lewis Patzner and the other by violinist Shaina Evoniuk. Tickets are $18 online at prjazz.org or $25 at the door.

Friday, December 9, 7:30 pm, Point Richmond Acoustic Presents Uncle Bonsai. This trio of Andrew Ratskin, Arni Adler and Patricia O’Neill have been writing and singing since the 1980’s. They are known for their strikingly original songs about the American human condition in the modern world. “Exquisite, Intricate and Zany!” Special guest Emily Yates plays and writes music for the ukulele.
